Stuart Bernard Manning (born 27 May 1979) is an English actor and model.

He is best known for the role of Russ Owen in the British Channel 4 soap opera Hollyoaks, which he played from 2004 until 2009.[1]

Before Hollyoaks, he had a part on the ITV soap opera Night and Day playing Sam Armstrong alongside Hollyoaks ex-cast member, Kevin Sacre. Manning won the 2002 British Soap Awards "Hero of the Year" award for that role. Before being on screen as an actor he appeared on the Channel 4 reality dating show Streetmate in episode 9 of season 3; he failed to find true love.

Stuart has an older brother, James Manning.

It was announced on digitalspy on April 3, 2009, that he had decided to quit the soap after five years. He left the series in an emotional storyline that saw him kidnap his baby son Max and hold him ransom.[2]

On November 12, 2009 it was announced on the digital spy website that Stuart would be taking part in series 9 of British reality TV series I'm a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here!

He also told interviewers that he planned to start a film career in the USA in 2010. Manning said that he has been offered the help of ex-campmate, George Hamilton, to get him on the right track for his future film and TV career. Nothing has come of this, and Stuart is now considering his options.

Stuart managed 19 days in the jungle before being voted out on December 2, 2009. He came in 5th place, and told Ant & Dec that he wanted Gino D'Acampo, with whom he had developed a 'bromance', to win and become King of The Jungle. He and Gino were charged with animal cruelty after killing and eating a rat, the killing of animals for performance being illegal. The rat was delicious, according to the campmates. [3][4] On Feb 17, 2010, the charges against Manning were dropped, although the network ITV was fined $5576[5]

Manning is currently appearing in the New Wolsey Theatre, Ipswich and Oldham Coliseum's production of A Passionate Woman.
